About IFOAM - Organics International

Founded in 1972, IFOAM -  Organics International is a membership-based organization working to bring true sustainability to agriculture across the globe.

Our world’s food and farming systems currently face multiple challenges ranging from increasing hunger, climate change, and biodiversity loss to farmers and food workers not earning a decent income. The way we produce and consume food can either alleviate or exacerbate these conditions.

IFOAM -  Organics International wants to be a part of the solution. Through our work, we build capacity to facilitate the transition of farmers to organic agriculture, raise awareness of the need for sustainable production and consumption, and advocate for a policy environment conducive to agro-ecological farming practices and sustainable development.

Together with our members in over 100 countries and territories as well as regional bodies and sector platforms, we are leading change, organically!

Vision

The widespread adoption of truly regenerative organic food and farming systems, grounded in the principles of organic agriculture: health, ecology, fairness, and care.

Mission

We empower, mobilise, and lead the global organic movement and its allies to drive transformative food and farming systems changes and policies for the benefit of people and the planet.

Our work contributes to an increased:

  • Uptake of organic agriculture and similar approaches, certified or non-certified
  • Number of organic operations that move from good practice towards best practice
  • Number of agriculture operations that are becoming more sustainable and integrate organic principles and methods.
