Capacity Development Program for rural service providers
The NMA project is calling for applications to join the Capacity Development Program (CDP) for Rural Service Providers (RSPs). The CDP is currently available for applicants from Pakistan, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan and Peru.
The course aims to assist the development of the required knowledge and skills about Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture through an intensive program of participatory knowledge sharing and empowerment of Rural Service Providers to further extend this knowledge in rural areas through implementation of micro-projects as part of their program output and in support of the NMA project objectives.
You will learn about an extensive range of topics related to nutrition sensitive and sustainable agriculture systems based on the agro-ecological approaches.
Syllabus topics are:
•Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture (NSA), Agroecology(AE) and Organic Agriculture (OA) principles and practices: Solution-driven for local agro-ecosystems
•MP - Micro-interventions (Micro-project development under the scope of NMA)
•Extension/advisory service and facilitation: Approaches, Methodology and Practice
•Value Chain and Markets
•Support Structures and Networks
•Advocacy, lobbying and campaigns
•Leadership, Management and Communication tools

The application form also includes the following:
- Your CV
- Your idea and outline for a micro-project that you will develop during the course. (your country representative/RSP facilitator will support you with this development)
The Course announcements are also available in the respective country spaces of the MAAN platform (Mountain in Agro-ecosystems Action Network)
- Applicants will be shortlisted, based on a qualitative assessment of documentation and profile
- Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed via Skype
- After the interview, successful applications will be notified of outcome before the first face to face

In 2012 for example, the IFOAM Academy successfully commenced with the development of the Organic Agriculture Academy for Extension Agents in the Republic of Korea, in partnership with the Rural Development Agency (RDA). This cooperation continues until today. Read more about the OAAEA here.
