Call for nominations for the IFOAM Standards Committee
The IFOAM Standard Committee is the technical expert group that works on the development of the IFOAM Standard. We invite organic standard experts to become a member of this committee. Interested? Apply by April 22, 2018.
What is the standard committee?
The IFOAM Standard Committee (SC) develops the IFOAM Standard, which is the global off-the-shelf certification standard maintained by IFOAM-Organics International for organic production and processing, and also a reference for IFOAM Accreditation (IFOAM Standard compliant option).
The Standard Committee is composed of individuals appointed by the Executive Director of IFOAM-Organics International. The committee works with the IFOAM - Organics International staff in charge of the IFOAM Organic Guarantee System. Members of the committee represent diverse geographical areas and areas of technical expertise. It works as a team for a period of 3 years. Every 3 years, the membership of the committee is open to new nominations and a selection process takes place for the appointment of new members.
Revisions to the ifoam standard
IFOAM - Organics International has just launched a new round of revisions of its IFOAM Standard. This coincides with the need to renew the membership of the Standard Committee. Hence we welcome applications from all interested experts who believe they can contribute to the further development of the IFOAM Standard, particularly on the issues outlined in the proposed Public Revision Plan.
What being on the committee entails
Work on the committee is voluntary (unpaid), and may be composed of a combination of remote meetings and in-person meetings, with travel costs covered by IFOAM - Organics International. Applicant members should be willing to dedicate about 5 to 8 working days per year to the committee work.
