Comprehensive Capacity Building for our GIZ Partners

IFOAM - Organics International is actively engaging in comprehensive capacity building efforts for our GIZ partners from Africa, Asia, and India. In the past two months alone, we have supported more than 80 delegation members from GIZ Sri Lanka, GIZ Green Innovation Centres (GIC), and the GIZ global program “Soil Protection and Rehabilitation for Food Security” with study tours, local excursions, and other capacity building activities.

GIZ Partner Delegations visit Germany

In conjunction with their visit to Germany for BIOFACH 2019, GIZ partner delegation members had the opportunity to visit several companies active in the organic supply chain, such as Naturkost and SoulSpice, based near Nuremburg.

While in Germany, the GIZ delegation from Sri Lanka also traveled to the IFOAM - Organics International head office in Bonn to participate in a policy boot camp and local study tours. Their study tour included visits to organic farmers, an organic grocery store as well as an organic wholesaler.

The policy boot camp was further supplemented by a one-day seminar centered around capacity building and organic market trends, which was attended by GIC country partners. This seminar was generously supported by a consortium comprised of IFOAM - Organics International, FiBL and Naturland.
