Roberto Ugas is a professor of agroecology at the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina in Lima, Peru and an advisor to Peru's National Association of Ecological Farmers (ANPE). He is an expert on agrobiodiversity, local knowledge, participatory breeding and market facilitation, and a tireless activist for a more just, sustainable world.
As a passionate advocate of smallholder farming, Roberto has helped IFOAM, Organics International raise issues related to the livelihoods of smallholders in front of United Nations bodies and other international organizations. He has also inspired IFOAM members to take greater initiative in their regions, leading by example through his involvement with IFOAM Latin America.
Roberto joined the World Board in 2008 and served as Vice President of IFOAM from 2008-2014.
