In Remembrance of Jordan Gama

IFOAM  - Organics International is deeply saddened to hear of the death of Mr. Jordan Gama.

Mr. Gama was the Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement (TOAM) and the President of AfrONet. He passed away on 19 August 2020, in the morning.

Mr. Gama fell sick during an official mission to Njombe region and later to Ruvuma region mid-July this year. He felt unwell and was rushed to the Ruvuma Referral Hospital for medical attention. He was later transferred to Hindu Mandal hospital in Dar es Salaam on 7th August, where he stayed till his sudden demise.

We have no words to express our deep sadness following the demise of our colleague, friend and leader from Tanzania. The Organic Sector Movement will forever be indebted to him for the steadily growing EOA in Africa. He was a great player and with a lot of promise, as we all know. May his soul rest in peace, and our Almighty comfort the family to endure the huge pain and loss.

It is a loss difficult to bear not only for the Ecological Organic Agriculture (EOA) development fraternity in Tanzania and Africa, but  also the world at large. In Mr. Gama we have lost a true professional, a leader, a humble and very kind man. Mr. Gama articulately advocated for the plight of smallholder famers transformation and for the environment through his efforts to promote Ecological Organic Agriculture in Tanzania and the region.

He will be greatly missed and we express our sympathy to his family and friends.
