Established in 2001, IFOAM Japan strives to promote domestic organic farming amongst consumers, producers, manufacturers, and distributors.
This regional body represents citizens’ voices at the policy-level and coordinates with governmental agencies (e.g. the Ministry of Agriculture, Forest and Fisheries) to develop favorable organic policy proposals and foster dialogue.
IFOAM Japan also develops market surveys, provides information on the international organic market, and promotes organic market expansion, specialized circulation systems, and alternative distribution options, such as Teikei. IFOAM Japan hosts regular seminars on organic farming development and participates in global events, such as the Organic World Congress and BIOFACH Japan.
