On 2 December, we co-organised a webinar with the Plant Production and Protection Division (NSP) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in support of the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables 2021.

Organic and agroecological fruits and vegetables growers provide excellent examples of how it is possible to produce nutrient-rich foods in a sustainable way, protecting the environment, growing biodiversity, preserving the soil, and mitigating and adapting to climate change. Organic and agroecological producers build sustainable and inclusive value chains for a better quality of life for family farmers and their communities. They generate income, create livelihoods, improve food security and nutrition, and enhance resilience through sustainably managed local resources and increased agrobiodiversity.
The webinar showcased organic and agroecological experiences, from different continents. Their stories are an inspiration for farmers organizations, civil society and United Nations agencies on how is possible to build sustainability and prosperity in the food systems, from farm to table, valuing the research experience carried out or led by farmers' organisations.
At this event, FAO and IFOAM – Organics International renewed their Memorandum of Understanding.
