TIPI's members gather often to discuss their objectives. The latest meeting was held at the 2022 IFOAM-Goesan International Organic Expo + Industry Fair, where TIPI was well-represented. It was also at this event that we celebrated our 50-year anniversary.

Among the TIPI Council members present was Andrew Hammermeister of the Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada, Mohammad (Reza) Rezapanah from Iran, Gerold Rahmann of the Von Thünen Institute in Germany, Tanveer Hossein, and Brian Baker.

TIPI’s accomplishments and challenges were presented by Baker as part of a workshop that featured IFOAM’s Sector Groups.  He shared that “TIPI needs to work on farmer-driven research and farmer-led innovation” and pledged that TIPI would work closely with the Intercontinental Network of Organic Farmers Organisations (INOFO) to realise mutual collaborations and benefits.

The TIPI Council and World Board members met to discuss the future of TIPI which was a productive and forthright conversation. Rahmann, as the President of the International Society for Organic Farming and Agriculture Research (ISOFAR), advised TIPI to focus on one or two achievable goals and consider collaborating with ISOFAR in the future. Jennifer Chang, Executive Director of IFOAM Asia, also expressed a clear interest in increasing technical support for organic agriculture on the continent.

The necessity for the IFOAM Network to create an internal body for member organisations that are involved in research, innovation, and technology development was reiterated by numerous attendees.

Representatives from the World Board and regional bodies concurred that it is critical for the policies created to improve organic agriculture to be based on facts and research.
