World Board Approves IFOAM – Organics International's 2024-2034 Strategy
IFOAM - Organics International's World Board has recently approved an ambitious strategy for the next 10 years to unite our movement and position organic as a solution to global crises of climate, biodiversity, food security, and inequality. The implementation of this strategy will be led by Ravi R. Prasad, the newly appointed Executive Director.
Organic farming systems can be a real game changer in a world threatened by ecosystems and climate collapse. Practiced by millions of farmers and supported by hundreds of millions of consumers around the globe, it substantially contributes to the production of healthy, nutritious food and other natural products for a growing population, enables farmers to earn a fair living, regenerates and enhances soil fertility and biodiversity, safeguards and replenishes scarce water resources, mitigates climate change and helps negatively impacted people adapt to that change, especially the most affected and vulnerable.
Recognised globally as part of the solution to the crises of food security, inequality, climate, and loss of biodiversity, the task now is to upscale and further develop organic farming and food systems.

We empower, mobilise, and lead the global organic movement and its allies to drive transformative change on farms, in markets, in the wilderness, and in policy for the benefit of people and the planet.
Our new strategy will unite members and allies, build new partnerships, and set a global agenda while empowering and supporting the organic movement to drive change worldwide. It rests on two complementary and intertwined pillars to empower and lead the organic movement.
- Equip members and allies with the competencies, tools, and community needed to develop and upscale organic agriculture, policies and markets worldwide.

Enhance regional and sectoral development within our network to embrace opportunities and tackle regional and global challenges.
- Spearhead transformative change by positioning organic farming and food systems as a solution to global climate, biodiversity, food security, and inequality crises, and nurture and defend the interests of all who work for this change.

Convene inclusive conversations and build partnerships on global challenges, mobilising organic stakeholders and allies across cultures and generations.

Define the benchmark for innovative organic standards worldwide fully embodying the organic principles.

Innovate and support organic guarantee systems that empower farmers, farmer groups, and fair local supply chains uniting farmers and consumers.
Empowering and leading the organic movement requires a robust organisational structure and sound financial footing.
- Restructure membership and governance to reflect better the diversity and development of the organic movement and sector, applying the principles of subsidiarity, equity, and inclusion.

Upskill our teams, and further develop core competencies and flagship products in the interest of organic stakeholders.

Develop a Diversity and Inclusion policy involving equitably Indigenous people, women, and youth in all procedures and governance.
