Remembering René Piamonte

We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of René Piamonte Peña, long-time friend of IFOAM – Organics International who worked tirelessly sharing his knowledge and passion for organic and biodynamic farming. He was a passionate and caring person always ready to share his wisdom.

When he worked with us he helped us build bridges to many other farming movements and highlighted how we can all learn from each other and work together for a better future. This left a lasting impression in our movement which to this day helps us shape how we work with others.

On a more personal note, we know that René met his wife, our dear colleague, Patricia at a congress organized by IFOAM - Organics International in Brazil in 1992. This meeting led to marriage, family and a joint life of dedication to organic and biodynamic agriculture.

We express our sympathy to Patricia, their children and all those whose life he touched on.

René will be missed by us all and will remain in our thoughts.
