Two Studies on Participatory Guarantee Systems Now Available For Download.

IFOAM – Organics International recently published two studies: Gender-Sensitive Assessment on Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) in the Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Exploring Opportunities to Increase the Synergy Between Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) and Third-Party Certification (TPC) in Organic Agriculture

These studies were carried out in the framework of its collaboration with FAO’s Mountain Partnership with the aim to promote sustainable management of fragile ecosystems such as mountains and islands by supporting sustainable food systems.

This study highlighted the need to strengthen the role of women and their potential in PGS initiatives and aimed to estimate the current status of PGS initiatives for organic agriculture in the region while identifying opportunities for further development. This was carried out in collaboration with the local organic association POETCom.
